Gangajhla Pokhal
Gangajhla Pokhal [1] is a small village situated in the Patti of Bichla Chakot, Syaldey block and tehsil Syaldey[2] in Almora district, Uttarakhand. Politically it is part of the Salt Assembly constituency and Almora Lok Sabha constituency. The present MLA is Mr. Mahesh Singh Jeena[3] since 2021.
According to the census of 2011, it has a population of 100.[4] Gangajhala Pokhal village (Code 051556) has a lower literacy rate compared to Uttarakhand. In 2011, the literacy rate of Gangajhala Pokhal village was 67% compared to 78.82% of Uttarakhand. In Gangajhala Pokhal, male literacy stands at 75% while the female literacy rate was 60%.
As per the Constitution of India and Panchayati Raj Act, Gangajhala Pokhal village is part of Gram Panchayat Paithana[5] and it is administrated by a Sarpanch (Head of Village) who is an elected representative of the village. The current Gram Pradhan is Mr. Manoj Negi.
Geography
The village is now connected to a PWD (Public Works Department) road.[6] You can reach Pokhal via road from Ramnagar, which is 103 km away. One more alternative road is also available via Bhatrochkhan, which is 112 km. Ruchiyakhaal is the bus stop to reach Pokhal. The nearest railway station is Ramnagar.
