Gary Vidal is an accountant and political figure in Saskatchewan Canada.
Career[edit]
Vidal was born and raised in Meadow Lake and attended Carpenter High School.[1] After graduating high school, Vidal attended the University of Saskatchewan where he earned a Certified General Accountant designation. Following this he became working for and was shortly thereafter named a partner of the accounting firm Pliska Vidal & Co.[2]
After working at the firm, in 2011 Vidal was elected as the Mayor of Meadow Lake, gaining over 70% of the vote.[3] Vidal attributed his reason for running to have come from MLA Jeremy Harrison He was acclaimed Mayor twice in 2012 and 2016.[4] In 2019 Vidal resigned his position as Mayor in order to run for the Conservative Party of Canada in the riding of Desnethé-Missinippi-Churchill River for the 2019 Canadian federal election citing his inability to do both jobs.[5]
