Search Gates of Hell (video game) on Amazon.Gates of Hell is a real-time tactics / strategy game developed by indie company Barbed Wire Studios. It is published by the original creators of the Men of War series, Best Way Soft. Players will lead soldiers from the countries of World War II into battle in both single and multiplayer.

Features[edit]

Gates of Hell is, like its Men of War relatives, a real-time tactics / strategy game set during World War II. The player completes special military objectives, which is achieved via military tactics and special operations. Unlike most games of the genre, there is not base building, resource gathering, research, or massive scale maps. In some single player missions, the player may use resource points to purchase units. Many times, this may involve buying units for defense or large scale offensive operations. In some multiplayer modes, the player may capture strategic points in order to gather more resource points. Resource points are used to purchase units.[1]

Gameplay[edit]

Gates of Hell is to take place in all different theaters of World War II, from North Africa to Russia. Similar to the original Men of War games and its predecessors, many of the missions are to be based on leading a squad through seemingly impossible situations. The goal is to utilize skill and the situation to your advantage. Players can pick up enemy weapons, retrieve ammo, lay traps or even play it stealth to achieve the objective. In many situations, the player may find himself with only a small squad against a large enemy force. The player may choose the run and gun option, however that will most likely end in disaster and defeat. Alternatively, the player may use stealth and sabotage to achieve the objective, while dealing enough damage to be victorious without major losses. Other situations may call for the opposite, with the player fielding a large force (usually supported by AI forces) in a run and gun battle.[2] The game contains two types of control modes, which can be alternated freely throughout the battle. These modes are the classic RTS click order mode, and the third person direct control mode. Direct control is a main feature of Gates of Hell and the Men of War series, allowing the player to directly control soldiers and vehicles alike.
