Gazi Peker

Gazi Peker, also known as DJ Gazi, is a Kurdish-born Danish DJ, musician, composer, and actor. His unique blend of Turkish and electronic music is well showcased in the four albums he has released. The first, "Kismet" was released in 2008 with musical contributions from artists such as Şivan Perwer. In 2018, "Kurdish Requiem" was released, featuring classical Kurdish folk songs. In 2022, "A Sad Song" was released, combining traditional Kurdish music with Western influences, presented in a modern way to appeal to a broader audience, especially the younger demographic. The song "Sense of Time" from the album has been praised for its beautiful saz playing.

In December 2023, a mini-album titled "Sivan Perwer, The Voice and the Poet" was released, featuring four songs produced in collaboration with the prominent Kurdish artist Şivan Perwer. In early 2024, he re-released the title track from his third album, "Kurdish Requiem," as "Kurdish Requiem, Single Edit."

"Thunder Break" from the debut album "Kismet" was included in the worldwide CD compilation "Made In Turkey Vol.4" on March 6, 2009, alongside some of the biggest Turkish artists such as Sezen Aksu, Sertab Erener, Funda Arar, Ajda Pekken, Eylem, Zeynep Dizdar, Yeni Turku, Hüsnü Şenlendirici, Kenan Doğulu, among others.

"The PainRoad Tease Remix" and "Mihemedo Remix" were featured on the compilation CD "I LOVE KURDISH MUSIC" in Germany, alongside artists like Ahmet Kaya, Sivan Perwer, Aynur Dogan, Ahmet Arslan, Agire Jiyan, among others.

"Thunder Break" was nominated for Track of the Year 2008 at the Danish World Awards.

Gazi Peker's music has also been featured in other productions and media. The song "Oh tha...dearest kismet" from the debut album "Kismet" is used in the TV series "Blekingegade" specifically in episode 4 of 2009, about the Blekingegade Gang.
