Gela (Zaza) Mikadze

Gela (Zaza) Mikadze (born 30 January 1971) is a Georgian businessman, investor, lawyer, philanthropist and politician. Since 2016, Mikadze has represented Georgia in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).[1]

Education

Mikadze graduated from secondary school in 1988 and following this enrolled at Tbilisi State University at the Department of Commodity Economics graduating in 1993 with honors. After having studied and graduated at the Russian Institute of Intellectual Right and Innovation where he obtained a diploma as Intellectual Property Lawyer in 1999, Mikadze pursued his studies at the Faculty of Law of Tbilisi State University, graduating there as a lawyer in 2001. During his higher education, he also graduated from the Churchill School in the UK in 1998 and completed a professional internship with the law firm Baker & Botts in Washington, D.C. in 2000.

Career

·        Soon after his university graduation in 1993, he took a job as the patent engineer at the Tbilisi State University’s Patents and Licenses Department. Mikadze became Patent and Trademark attorney of Georgia in 1999 and established his own law firm Office Gela Mikadze that became one of the leading IP law firms in Georgia with associated offices in all republics of the former Soviet Union.[2]

·        Mikadze was appointed as CEO of the largest investor groups from GSS in Georgia in 2006 and serving until 2013.

·        Mikadze was promoter, co-founder and CEO of the first Free Industrial Zone concept in Georgia in 2007-2013[3] [4]

·        Mikadze was serving as member of the Supervisory Board of one of the largest ports of the Black Sea, Poti Port, turning it into a modern logistics facility in the region from 2007-2011.[5]

·         Mikadze was founder and promoter of the first customs clearance terminal in Georgia in 2011.

·        Mikadze was co-founder and served as CEO of Poti Airport in 2009-2013.[6]

·        Mikadze was co-founder and CEO of the first and largest shopping mall “TBILISI MALL” in Georgia in 2006-2013[7]

·        Mikadze was co-owner of the five star Sheraton Metekhi Palace Hotel in Tbilisi – 2007-2013[8]

·        Mikadze was co-owner of largest theme park “Mtamtsminda Amusement Park” in Georgia – 2009-2012[9]

·        Mikadze was a key person in attracting large retail business investors to Georgia.

Political life

From 2016, Mikadze is a Member of Parliament of Georgia.[10]

Mikadze is married and has three children.
