GemLuck is a Sri Lankan Gem and jewelry trading company based in Rathnapura (Gem City), Sri Lanka, which manages the jewelry making process from the gem mine to the global market. A vertically integrated company, GemLuck operations comprise the mining, cutting, polishing and retail distribution of gemstones and jewelry. Also, they provide gem hunting travels for foreign travelers.
"GemLuck," the word itself, stands for the luck that came with the gemstones. As an example, the poor miner can find a gemstone and it will give him a fortune with the value. The person who buys the gemstone from him can sell it for more price than he bought it for. This goes so on. The Greeting "Good Luck, GemLuck" is often used in this corporate culture.
History
GemLuck was founded in Sri Lanka in 2008 by Sampath Samarasekara, a software engineer and an entrepreneur from Colombo. At the beginning there was a gem merchant named "Sampath Gems," then "GemLuck" makes it 2 separate business owned by the same person.
