Gengen Kusano (草野 原々 くさの げんげん) (born April 16, 1990) is a Japanese Sci-fi & Fantasy writer living in the city of Sapporo in Hokkaido, Japan.

Kusano was born in Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture, then later moved to Yokohama City in Kanagawa Prefecture. After graduating from Toin Gakuen High School, Kusano attended college at the Shonan Fujisawa Campus of Keio University and graduated with a major in Environmental Information. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD at Hokkaido University at the Graduate School of Science.

In 2016, the Love Live! SF-Fusion fanzine School Idol Fictionality published Kusano's edited contribution "The Last and First Idol," which was originally titled "The Last and First Yazawa." "The Last and First Idol" won 4th Place in the Hayakawa SF Contest Special Prize category and was part of his first collection of published stories online. Kusano is a member of Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of Japan.

In July 2017, "The Last and First Idol" won the 48th Seiun Award for Best Japanese Short Story, and in August of the same year, won a Sense of Gender Award. In July 2019, Kusano won another Seiun Award in the same category with his short story "Ankoku Seiyū" (暗黒声優).
