Geoffrey Meyikokba Yaden, born on April 4, 1954 is a journalist by profession and a social entrepreneur. Founder, Publisher & Editor-in-Chief of Nagaland Post and chairman on North East8 (NE8) Network, a digital media owned by Nagaland Post.

Journalism & Career: Launched Nagaland Post, the pioneer English news daily of Nagaland, on 3rd December 1990. Nagaland Post is the first newspaper in Nagaland to be published in colour and also the first newspaper of the North-Eastern region to be published in colour on multi-pages. The newspaper is the second highest circulated English news daily in the North Eastern Region, India. It is the only newspaper in the state with authentic Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC) certification, and is also circulated in neighbouring states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Meghalaya. Founding member of the Press Association of Nagaland (1999). Founder-President of Press Corps of Nagaland (2002). Founder-member of Nagaland Press Association (2011). Member of Editors Guild of India. Member Press Club of India, New Delhi.

Social Activities Nominated as State Brand Ambassador of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. As Swacch Bharat Brand Ambassador, Geoffrey Yaden took the initiative to organize monthly social work in all the 23 Municipal Wards along with the Dimapur district administration as well as the Dimapur Municipal Council and leaders of various communities, noted social workers, youth volunteers and heads of educational institutions as partners. Founder-president of Naga Entrepreneurs’ Association (Regd.No LBR/02/79) formed by first ever batch of 29 trainees who underwent one-month residential training under SBI’s Entrepreneurial Development Programme (EDP) in 1979 in Dimapur. Founder-chairman of Living Word Centre, a registered NGO-- the Centre provides career guidance and vocational training programmes in various fields for youths and women. Sponsored students for Skill Development trainings to various institutes. Set up a Vocational Training Institute called the Learning Institute of Vocational Education (LIVE) under Living Word Centre, where the economically weaker sections are provided with free short-term training in journalism, photography, documentary films, cooking, personality development, carpentry, crash courses on electronics repairing etc. Besides these vocational training programmes, the Centre also gives out training to women in the form of Self-Help Groups, with emphasis on economic sustenance. • Present President of Dimapur Club, the oldest among the city’s clubs. Initiated the construction of the state’s first Olympic standard public swimming pool to promote swimming among the students and youths. • Founder-convenor of Health & Recreation Club, Dimapur (1987). • Member Governing Body of North East Zone Cultural Centre, Government of India (2005-2007). • Former member of Indo-Global Social Service Society, Guwahati Region representing Nagaland state. • Senior Adviser Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA), Nagaland. • Founding member of the Joint Christian Forum. • First President of Dimapur Citizens Forum. Nagaland Post has had a profound impact on many current young professionals who have been reading the newspaper and its acclaimed editorial, since its inception.

Recognition/Achievements • In recognition of the services rendered in the field of journalism as well as social services— organizations like Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) in 2001 presented the ‘Outstanding Award’ in the field of Journalism and Social Service. • Classic Club Kohima in 2003 also presented the ‘Outstanding Person Award of The Year’ for Journalism and Social Service. • Awarded ‘Peace Award’ by the Peace Channel, Nagaland for involvement with youth towards promoting peace • State Bank of India, Dimapur branch ‘Most Successful Entrepreneur’, based on achievements in Nagaland to start-up business despite various challenges in the insurgency hit state.
