Geordie Day
Geordie Day (born October 12, 1990) is a documentary filmmaker, and television producer/director. His films play on television, demand services, and in theaters at festivals and screenings, around the world.[2] He is the founder and president of the production company, NightSchool Films.
Bob Probert[edit]
In 2018 Day directed, wrote and produced, "Tough Guy: The Bob Probert story", an intimate portrait of the life and career of the NHL enforcer,[3] including previously unpublished interviews with Probert conducted just before his death.[4] It's been written about in The Detroit Free Press[5], Barstool Sports[6] and USA Today[7].
The film's trailer was launched by Deadline[8] and received more than a million views across various platforms within its first week, resulting in sold out screenings across Canada, including the film's premiere in Probert's hometown of Windsor, Ontario.[9]
After an American premiere at the FREEP Film Festival, "Tough Guy" was released in 15 theaters across the country.[10]. "Tough Guy" is currently playing on Amazon Prime, along with all VOD platforms. It reached the #1 independent film, #1 sports movie and the #1 documentary on the itunes Canada charts, and #7 documentary and #5 sports movie on the itunes USA charts.[11]
Charles Manson[edit]
In 2017 Day produced, "Charles Manson: The Final Words," which contained the last ever recorded interviews with Manson.[12] The film aired on REELZ, and was featured on TMZ, Megyn Kelly Today, in Rolling Stone[13], Billboard Magazine[14], and The New York Times.
Clint Malarchuk[edit]
In 2015, Day wrote, produced and co-directed the documentary, Goalie: Life and Death in the Crease.[15], a biopic on retired NHL goalie Clint Malarchuk who suffered severe PTSD and depression after a player's skate cut his jugular vein and he nearly bleed to death on the ice.[16] "Goalie" is now playing on Super Channel across Canada.
Unnatural Enemies[edit]
In 2015, Day wrote, produced and directed "Unnatural Enemies: The War on Wolves" which looks at Alberta’s controversial wolf management polices, including its use of wire snares, strychnine poisoning and bounty hunters.[17]
The film played at the International Wildlife Film Festival, the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival and won the prestigious Genesis Award handed out by the Humane Society. [18]. "Unnatural Enemies has played on both CTV, and CBC in Canada, as well as other networks internationally.
Other Projects[edit]
At 23, he directed his first TV documentary, "Living History," a documentary on Alberta's history for CBC.[19]
His 2016 Film, Born Blue chronicles a team of doctors from all over the world who travel to Guyana, South America, to perform heart surgeries on children and to establish a sustainable cardiology program. The film aired on CBC’s Documentary Channel and won an Anthem Award for Best International Documentary. It was screened in Guyana in front of the Prime Minister and Minister of Health to lobby for a change in healthcare policy.[20]
From 2017 to 2019 Geordie directed 21 episodes of, "The Shocking Truth"[21] and 33 episodes of "Sex, Lies and Murder."[22] Both true crime shows, airing on REELZ in the US and other networks internationally.
