Sir John Bolton is a former director of the Bank of England. He became the director of the Bank of London and South America (BOLSA) in 1957. He led the BOLSA to hunt mostly euro-dollars transactions. By doing so, he blazed a trail for the eurodollar market in London, followed by the whole financial sector in this city.[1]
Bolton was also a Conservative politician and MP from 1931-1945 and 1950-1959. He held a succession of minor ministerial posts, including Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to Stanley Baldwin and was Chairman of the Oil Control Board from 1939-1945. He was Governor of the BBC between 1946-1949, and a life peer from 1974 until his death in 1984.[2]
