George D. Carroll

George D. Carroll was a businessman and author. He was passionate about etiquette and authored several books on the subject, most famously The Art of Correspondence.

In 1878 he established Dempsey and Carroll in collaboration with John Dempsey. Dempsey, a highly skilled engraver, shared Carroll's passion for etiquette and correspondence. Dempsey and Carroll established a reputation as a prestigious stationer, having been featured in Vogue Magazine, Forbes, and Architectural Digest. Today, Dempsey and Carroll is self described as "the finest purveyor of excellent engraved social stationary". A selection of Dempsey and Carroll's work can be found in The Met Collection.
