George Griffith (writer and director)
George Griffith is an American actor and director, best known for directing the 2011 independent movie From the Head, and playing Ray Malone in Twin Peaks: The Return.[1]
He was born in Philadelphia and trained at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and at the Circle in the Square Professional Workshop in New York City. He has also performed and directed on stage in New York, Los Angeles, and Edinburgh.[2]
A former strip club bathroom attendant, he based the movie From the Head on his own working experiences. He wrote, directed, and starred in the movie. The Hollywood Reporter said it was "far more interesting than a film set entirely in a bathroom has a right to be."[2] Shockya gave it an overall B- rating, calling it "a movie of considerable if to-scale surprises." David Lynch also praised it, calling it a "beautiful" work and said: "George made a film called From The Head...and when I saw it I knew he'd be a great Ray Monroe" (in Twin Peaks).[3] This would ultimately lead him to being cast in the role.
He is probably best known for his work in third season of Twin Peaks, aka Twin Peaks: The Return,[4] but as an actor he has also appeared in many television series and movies. His other credits include roles in the movies Mom and Dad (2017), Cabin Fever (2016)[5], When the Starlight Ends (2016), and guest appearances on shows like Private Practice.[6]
He is playing Detective Morrison in the upcoming movie La Flamme Rouge.[7][8]
