George T. Sink, Sr. (born March 26th, 1943 in Detroit) is an American lawyer[1] and the Founding Attorney for George Sink, P.A. Injury Lawyers[2] in South Carolina.

Sink served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War and has retired as a Marine Corps Captain.[3]

Personal Life[edit]

Sink was born and raised in Detroit. His father, George Sink, worked in the Chrysler Corporation factory of Detroit and his mother, Irene Lillian Sink, taught school and piano her entire life.

Sink has two younger sisters, he is married to Jeannette Sink and has two sons.

The oldest, George T. Sink, Jr., graduated from Yale, worked in Manhattan for 10 years and is currently working at George Sink P.A. Injury Lawyers, while attending law school. His youngest son, Kenneth Alexander Sink, also known as Alex Sink, graduated from Drexel University and works as a computer game designer in San Francisco, California.

In 2016, Sink was recognized as an outstanding Charleston community member by the North Charleston Magazine.[4]

Education[edit]

Funded by the G.I. Bill, Sink went back to Western Michigan to get an MBA and was then accepted into Emory University School of Law in Atlanta.

Sink graduated from the Western Michigan University in 1972 with a master's degree in History and an M.B.A.

Sink graduated from Emory University School of Law in 1973 with a Juris Doctor degree.

Professional Career[edit]

Sink taught English, geography and history to inner city 7th and 8th graders in his hometown in Detroit in 1965 and 1966.

His teaching job could have exempted him from the Vietnam draft, but he volunteered for service in the Marine Corps and served two tours in Vietnam, leaving as a Captain after three years of active duty.

Settling in Charleston in 1974, Sink began working for a general practitioner, doing everything from wills to corporate law, criminal law and personal injury. In 1977 he started his own firm George Sink, P.A. Injury Lawyers, focused on personal injury.

George Sink Valor Award[edit]

The George Sink Valor Award, created by The Partners for a Better Community, rewards students who have overcome adversities while maintaining a 3.0 GPA or better and continue to excel in their community and school.[5][6]

Sink became a Life Member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, an organization limited to attorneys who have won million and multimillion-dollar verdicts and settlements.[17]
