George William Robertson was the paternal great-grandfather of French President Emmanuel Macron,[1], and a British War Veteran who fought in the Battle of the Somme.
Biography[edit]
George William Robertson was born in 1887 in Bristol and received a medal for fighting in the Battle of The Somme. He was married to Suzanne Julia Amelie Leblond[2][1] in 1919 and worked for her parent's hotel.
They eventually settled down and had 3 daughters; the most notable of the three was, Jacqueline, who was born in 1922. George allegedly left his family after Jacqueline was was born at an unknown date. George and Suzanne divorced in 1928. After his divorce he decided to move to Paris and reportedly, worked for the American cosmetics and perfume brand Elizabeth Arden. He then moved back to the United Kingdom and settled in Forest Gate, East London where he married Elizabeth Luckin and opened a grocer's. He died in 1956.[3]
