Gerald Mbamalu.[1] is the traditional ruler of Ojoto in Idemili-South Local Government Area of Anambra State, southeast Nigeria.The post of Igwe is recognized by the state and federal governments of Nigeria. The Igwe himself is seen as a representative of the people in his town to the state and federal levels of government. The current Igwe of Ojoto is His Majesty Igwe Gerald Mbamalu, he is the present and third traditional ruler of Ojoto. He is the fourth child of his parents, Aloysius and Philomina Mbamalu.[2] Gerald Mbamalu was coronated on April 1, 2018 as Eze Ojoto III and Ezeoranyelu I by the King-makers of the community alongside his Igwe-in-Council.[3] He succeeded the late Igwe Augustine Obidiwe (Eze Ojoto II) who passed on in 2017.[4]

HRH Igwe A.E. Adirika was coronated in 1977 as Ezebube I of Ojoto,[3] he was succeeded by HRH Igwe Augustine Obidiwe, who was coronated as Azeakajiofoana and was later succeeded by the present Igwe Gerald Mbamalu.[citation needed]

Official certificate of recognition in accordance with the traditional rulers Act of 1981 by the then Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano was issued to the traditional ruler of Ojoto, HRH Igwe Gerald Mbamalu on February 20, 2018.[5] His first Ofalla was recorded on January 2, 2021 since his coronation[6] [7] and New yam festival on August 5, 2021.[8][9]
