Geraldine Donnelly (23 November 1949 - 29 June 2019) was a South Armagh SDLP councillor for eleven years. She held the role of Deputy Mayor with the Newry and Mourne Council in 2011 and 2012. Mrs Donnelly retired from council in 2016.
South Armagh SDLP Councillor
The former South Armagh representative joined the former Newry and Mourne Council in 2005.[1] In 2011 and 2012, she held the role of Deputy Mayor of Newry and Mourne. Mrs Donnelly stepped down after 11 years as an SDLP member of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council in 2016. In the 2011 election, she had topped the poll with 1,681 votes in the Slieve Gullion area.[2]
Personal life
At the age of 23, Geraldine married Sean Donnelly and later became the mother of three children, Niall, Sandra and Karen.[3] Around this time, she ran the playgroup situated in her local area.[4] Later in 2005, she was elected as an SDLP councillor in the Newry and Mourne area.[5]
