Gerard Jayakumar John is an Indian musician and actor, notable for his contribution to the Indian Pop Culture and Fusion Music in the 90's.

Biography

John is the son of Bollywood singer Susheela John and her husband Dr. Francis John Manikham.[1]

John began his early music career as a drummer before undertaking theoretical musical composition studies in piano, voice, percussion and World fusion music. In 1994, John and his younger brother Philip Rajkumar John teamed up to form Indian pop band Phil and Jerry. As singer song writers and record producers, the brothers jointly produced Fusion Indian pop and Tamil pop albums between 1994 and 2005.

Album and Recordings

Oorja Q funk[2] (1994-1995) Magnasound Records, language Hindi. Magnasound Records first produced this album but they have since gone bankrupt. Subsequent distribution is by Sony Records.

Dance Naytam[3][4] (1996-1997) Magnasound Records, language Tamil. Subsequent distribution is by Sony Records[5].

Film

In 2016 John made his debut into movie production and acting with his short film Tendency to Love or the Italian meaning Tendenza Ad Amar. Filmed in Italy, the movie was a UK - Italian co production with the American school of Milan. John portrayed an English doctor troubled with the complexities of love alongside lead actress Michela Carattini. John also composed the original film score, the title song track and co-produced the movie with fellow film directors Jennifer Rose John and Paul Rickwood.

Between 2016 and 2018 John has received multiple Global independent film Awards for the film Tendency to Love including best score, leading actor, best original score, best song, best drama and best dramatic short film.

Awards of Merit by Accolades Competition[7] in February 2018 for Original Score, Original Song and Best Actor.

The Bronze Award by European Independent Film Award[8] in Spring 2018 for Best Score.

Best Original Score by Festigious Awards[9] in December 2017.

Best Song by Festigious Award[10] in April 2018.

Diamond Award by LA Shorts Awards[11] in January 2018 for Best Score

Platinum Award by LA Shorts Awards[12] in January 2018 for Best Actor.

Diamond Award by Mindfield Film Festival Los Angeles[13] in February 2018 for Best original Score.

Gold Award from LA Shorts Award[14] for Best Drama in January 2018 - this award was jointly won with co-producers/directors Paul Rickwood and screen play writer Jennifer Rose John.

Platinum Remi Award from WorldFest [15]Houston for Best Dramatic Short Film in 2018 - this award was jointly won with co-producers/directors and playwright Jennifer Rose John and Paul Rickwood.
