Gerard McCabe (born 11 September 1980) is a Northern Irish actor. He was an original member of The Company Youth Theatre and one of the earliest members of the Rainbow Factory, School of the Performing Arts.[citation needed]
Career
McCabe has worked professionally for 14 years[when?] in all areas of the industry,[citation needed] including film, television, radio and stage.[citation needed] McCabe has been acting since he was 10 years old,[citation needed] when he joined a youth theatre group called The Rainbow Factory.[citation needed] He turned professional when he was 16 years old when he was cast in Replay Theatre Company's award-winning play "Sinking" by Gary Mitchell.[citation needed] Since then he has performed lead roles in Blue Remembered Hills (Bruiser), Henry and Harriot (Kabosh), The New Kid (Replay) Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors (Belfast Th. Co) and A Midsummer Night's Dream (Bruiser).[citation needed] Other plays include Chasing the Whale's Tale, The Bunsen Tower Mysteries, The Caucasian Chalk Circle, The Crucible and musicals like Who's Harry?, Watermark, Bugsy Malone, Guys and Dolls, West Side Story, Ovid and Oliver.[citation needed]
McCabe worked for CBBC and specifically for UKOOL, which finished its fourth season in 2005 and in which he was nominated for a children's BAFTA.[citation needed] He also appeared as guest presenter on Saturday morning shows such as CBBC, Fully Booked and F.B.I.[citation needed] In 2011 he was seen in Betrayal of Trust.[citation needed]
McCabe made his American debut in, 'Touched by an Angel'. He also acted in a short film called Water With Food Coloring, which went on to play in L.A. and New York film festivals, and won him the 'Best Actor' award in the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival.[citation needed]
McCabe resides in Belfast with his family.[citation needed]
