The Germund Dahlquist Prize, established in 1995, is awarded every two years by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) for original contributions to fields associated with Germund Dahlquist, especially the numerical solution of differential equations and numerical methods for scientific computing.[1] The award is given to a young scientist (usually under the age of 45), and as part of the award, the recipient is requested to give a lecture at the meeting where the prize is awarded.[2] The award also includes a $2,000 monetary prize and a certificate.[1]
In 1995, mathematician Jesús María Sanz-Serna became the inaugural recipient of the award.[3]
