Get At The Bookie
Get At The Bookie is a sports information website [3] that was founded in 2015 by Tavares Clarke. Tavares came up with the idea for Get At The Bookie while being a regular member of the CBSSports chat room. Tavares noticed that the chat room was mostly comparing sports picks. There were a few chats here and there about actual sports, but mostly sports picks. Being a huge sports fan and sports bettor, Tavares came up with the idea to create a website that would give sports bettors a way to get free picks and read why the picks were made. He tabled himself as SportsGuru and began to write articles for those who wanted information. Tavares was frowned upon because the touts who would charge for picks started watching their numbers dwindle. The word was out about Get At The Bookie and everyone was coming there to get their free picks.
In 2017, Tavares decided to step back and take a break from Get At The Bookie. During the time away, Tavares would take on regular 9-to-5 jobs, but they were not things that he wanted to do. Nothing gave him the satisfaction that writing for sports and talking about sports gave him. It didn't feel like work because it was something that he liked to do. After Covid hit, Tavares gave thought to opening up Get At The Bookie. In May of 2021, Get At The Bookie was reopened. Tavares was able to log into his old Wordpress website and get the email addresses of the members that started with him on Wordpress. Today, writing this, Get At The Bookie is open. The website is www.getatthebookie.com. The website does not have as much traffic as it once did, but Tavares was able to log back into all his old social media websites including twitter [4]. Growth has been a little slow, but as of June 14, 2021, Tavares released his first podcast. This added feature gives people the opportunity to listen to his picks and commentary while on the go. The name of the podcast is Sports, Picks, and Jive.
