GGPoker is an online poker room started in 2017. It is based in the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea.
History[edit]
GGPoker's parent company GG International Limited was started in April of 2017.[1]. The site got its first license in August 2017 from the UK Gambling Commission[2]. The online poker room really got a boost when in October 2019, Daniel Negreanu signed on as a brand ambassador[3]. Negreanu had left PokerStars six months earlier[4], and was the world's most popular poker player at the time[5]. High-profile poker players like Bertrand „ElkY“ Grospellier, Fedor Holz, and Dan Bilzerian followed the following year.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 World Series of Poker was held online. The international part, 54 bracelet events, were organized on GGPoker[6], further positioning the brand as a global player. The Main Event of the online WSOP in September 2020, set a record for largest prize pool in an online poker tournament with $ 27.5 million[7]
Games[edit]
GGPoker offers both cash games and tournaments in numerous variants. The buy-ins range from pennies to high stakes. In addition, there is the "Spin & Gold" format where 3 or 6 players play in a sit-and-go style tournament for a random prize pool, "All-In or Fold", where all players must either bet all their chips or fold in each hand, and "Flip & Go", where all tournament players are all-in in the first hand and the remainder of the event plays as a usual poker tournament.
In June 2021, the site released a sit-and-go variant called Battle Royale, a Fortnite inspired tournament variant in which 30 players compete against each other in a bounty format.[8]
The major tournament series at GGPoker include the World Series of Poker Online, the Super Circuit Online Series, and the GG Spring Festival. All series have guaranteed prize pools.
