Ghamidi Center of Islamic Learning[1][2] is a formal educational institute located in Carrollton, Texas (in suburbs of Dallas, Texas). It is affiliated with and established by Al-Mawrid U.S.,[3][4] a registered nonprofit charitable organization[5] in the United States, for the purpose of education, research and dissemination of Islam and associated sciences.

Background

Ghamidi Center of Islamic Learning ® [1] (GCIL), is an initiative of Al-Mawrid United States Inc., a 501(c)(3) public charity, established in 2014. Named after its Chief Patron and Principal Research Fellow, Javed Ahmed Ghamidi[6][7][8], is a religious educational institute located in Carrollton, TX[9]. GCIL was formally inaugurated by Javed Ahmed Ghamidi[10] on October 12, 2019.

Mission Statement

Ghamidi Center of Islamic Learning's mission is “to teach people how to explore, understand, discuss, and practice Islam on the basis of reason, rationality, and objective thinking.”

GCIL Activities

Educational Programs

Ghamidi Center of Islamic Learning ® [2] offers several educational classes, lectures, and seminars that include the following sessions:

  1. Mezaan Lectures: This series is streamed live every Saturday on GCIL's social media channels. In these Lectures Javed Ahmed Ghamidi teaches his book Meezan.
  2. Al-Bayan Lectures: A lecture series on his book of Quran exegesis (tafseer), Al-Bayan. This series is also streamed live on GCIL's channels on Facebook and Youtube.
  3. From the Desk of Ghamidi: GCIL records educational sessions on diverse topics including religious, social, and historical subjects. A new episode of this series is premiered every Tuesday.
  4. Adult Courses: GCIL has arranged for several adult courses since its inauguration in 2019, some of which can be reviewed on its online channels.
  5. Sunday School Classes: Ghamidi Center also started its Sunday School Program in August 2020.

Research

Javed Ahmed Ghamidi conducts research and supervises research scholars at GCIL. His research interests include Quran, Biblical texts, Arabic, theology, philosophy, history, and social sciences. One of his key research projects is the Hadith project where he is conducting a critical study of Hadith literature in the light of Quran and biblical texts.

Community Outreach

GCIL is also involved in community outreach and engagement on contemporary social issues. Javed Ahmed Ghamidi conducts live sessions on social media[11][12] and answers questions from viewers all over the world. His opinion on social distancing during coronavirus pandemic within religious context has been viewed widely and has received acceptance and criticism.
