Ghetto Golf is a video game in development by IllFonic and is designed by Kedhrin Gonzalez. It was created by Grammy-winning artist and producer Raphael Saadiq.
Development[edit]
A prototype version of Ghetto Golf was shown to select press and publishers behind closed doors at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco on March 2009. MTV's Multiplayer blogger Stephen Totilo introduced the Ghetto Golf prototype to the world in April 2009.[1] This instantly sparked a worldwide interest with consumers and press leading to an article in Famitsu's Xbox 360 magazine. On June 2–4, 2009, IllFonic showed off Ghetto Golf's multiplayer game mode "Golf Gangs" behind closed doors in downtown Los Angeles during the E3 expo to select video game, movie, and music industry people. The prototype version was made as an Unreal Tournament 3 mod for internal evaluation, market analysis, and proof of concept.
In August 2009, IllFonic announced it had moved into full production on Ghetto Golf for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Ghetto Golf is currently being developed by IllFonic's Denver based studio consisting of only six developers while using a small amount of outsourcing. Towards the middle of development IllFonic is looking to staff up to ten full-time developers. The games design is led by Kedhrin Gonzalez and Executive Produced by Charles Brungardt and Raphael Saadiq. Programming is led by Paul Jackson while the art team is led by Chris Holden. Using the award winning Unreal Engine 3 video game engine and combining it with IllFonic's unique development pipeline has allowed the team to excel at development while maintaining a small number of developers. IllFonic also has a 10,000 sq ft (930 m2) Los Angeles based recording studio, motion capture studio, production office, and publishing headquarters. In addition to being the creator of Ghetto Golf, Raphael Saadiq will be lending his musical talents along with some unannounced producer friends of his for the Ghetto Golf soundtrack.
