Gilbert Arvizu

Gilbert Arvizu was a candidate for Phoenix City Council District 8. Arvizu lost the general special election on March 12, 2019.[1] He is the grandson of pioneering Chicano activist Abraham F. Arvizu.

Arvizu was the implementation intern for myCommunity Connect under UnitedHealthcare Community & State, a groundbreaking initiative to address the Social Determinants of Health in distressed communities across the US[2]. This initiative impacted more than 10,000 lives and reduced healthcare costs by 58%[3].

Arvizu was one of the last full time interns for United States Senator John McCain during the 115th Congress where he analyzed healthcare legislation, implemented the Congressional Investigation of the Navajo Housing Authority, and strategized the Rio Reimagined initiative with the Senator and his professional staffers.[4]
