The Gilroy Rodeo was first held in 1930, it was a town event held on what is now the site of South Valley Middle School each June. The rodeo was discontinued in 1956. 61 years later in 2017, Erik and Kendra Martin tried to revive the rodeo. The rodeo then returned in August 2018 and has been held every year since.[1][2]
