Giorgi Gigashvili (born 2000) is a Georgian pianist.
Life[edit]
Gigashvili studied at the Conservatory in Tbilisi with Revas Tavadze. Since 2021, he has continued his studies at the Geneva Conservatory of Music with Nelson Goerner.[1]
Gigashvili has received numerous awards. These include 1st prize at the international competition Lloret de Mar Fiestalonia Milenio in Spain in 2013, 1st prize at the 4th Chopin Competition for Young Pianists in Tbilisi in 2015, 1st prize at the International Chopin Piano Competition in Estonia (2016), and 2nd prize at the 6th Tbilisi International Piano Competition in 2017. In 2019, he won the 1st Prize as well as the Nelson Freire Special Prize at the 3rd Vigo International Piano Competition, chaired by Martha Argerich. Also in 2019, he won the 3rd prize as well as the audience prize at the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition in Bolzano. The Geza Anda Foundation awarded him the Hortense Anda Bühre Promotional Prize for one of the youngest participants at the 15th Concours Géza Anda in Zurich in 2021. Also in 2021, he won the 1st prize and the audience award at the 19th Kissingen Piano Olympics.[2][3] In 2023 Gigashvili won the 2nd prize at the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in Tel Aviv.[4]

- In 2022, the CD Secret Love Letters (Deutsche Grammophon) was released. On it Gigashvili performs the Sonata for Violin and Piano by César Franck together with Lisa Batiashvili.[5]
- The CD Meeting My Shadow (Alpha classics) with works of Alexander Scriabin, Ludwig Van Beethoven, Olivier Messiaen, Johannes Brahms and Domenico Scarlatti is released in 2023.[6]
