Giovanni Gnifetti

Giovanni Gnifetti was an Italian mountaineer and parish priest from Alagna Valsesia. [1]
Together with J. Farinetti, C. Ferraris, C. Grober, J. and G. Giordiano, Giovanni Gnifetti made the first successful ascent of the Signalkuppe on 9 August 1842. The mountain is also popularly known as Punta Gnifetti, in honour of Giovanni.[2]
Gnifetti Hut a refuge on the Signalkuppe also is named after Giovanni Gnifetti. The hut features as a setting in Meditations On The Peaks by author Julius Evola.
