Giovanni Gnifetti
Giovanni Gnifetti was an Italian mountaineer and parish priest from Alagna Valsesia.

Together with J. Farinetti, C. Ferraris, C. Grober, J. and G. Giordiano, Giovanni Gnifetti made the first successful ascent of the Signalkuppe on 9 August 1842. The mountain is also popularly known as Punta Gnifetti, in honour of Giovanni.[2]
Gnifetti Hut, a refuge on the Signalkuppe, is also named after Giovanni Gnifetti. The hut features as a setting in Meditations On The Peaks by author Julius Evola.
