Early Life[edit]
Gisele Castro Afeche was born in Santos-SP- Brasil, the youngest of four daughters. She studied in private schools and took piano lessons from an early age, she started teaching music at the age of 17. Since childhood she loved music and literature, she could read and write since the age of 4 years old and her passion for reading started very early. She had read most classical books by the age of 10 such as Machado de Assis, José de Alencar, fables, amongst others.

Gisele Castro Afeche is a musicologist graduated from the University of Paris IV – Sorbonne, and has a Masters in Arts (audio production for TV, film and music) from the University of Westminster, in London.
Opera singer (soprano), composer, choral conductor, pianist, harpsichordist, professor of music theory, harmony and music history.
In addition to her musical studies, she holds degrees in English, French, Holistic Therapies and is also a Dessert Chef.
She has lived in Paris – France, for eight years, where she completed her studies in singing with the renowned teacher Odile Pietti, harpsichord with Jacques Frisch, choral conducting with Claire Marchand, musical analysis with Naji Hakim and musical perception (theory and sight reading) in conservatories such as ENM de Bourg la Reine, CNR de Boulogne and Conservatoire Maurice Ravel.
She was a teacher of music theory and choir conductor at the École Nationale de Musique de Bourg-la-Reine and assistant conductor at the maîtrise Notre Dame de Paris.
She sang in renowned choirs in France, such as: Choeur de la Sorbonne (Jacques Grimbert), Choeur Accentus (Laurence Equilbey), Choeur de l'Orchestre de Paris, Ensemble Féminin Ars Musicae (Claude Carrot) and Choeur Saint-Louis-en-Ile (George Guillard), among others.
Returning to Brazil, she was a member of Coral Paulistano at Teatro Municipal de São Paulo for eight years, also acting as a soloist.
She was a choir singer and soloist in “Camerata Novo Horizonte”, “Brasilessentia” and “Harmonia Universalis”.
She was a singing teacher at Saint Paul's School in São Paulo and was a soloist with Coral Baccarelli – São Paulo. She toured Brazil with the group La Symphonie du Marais, dir. Hugo Reyne.
He has lived in England since 2004, where he taught piano, singing and choral singing at South Devon College and also at his own music school, 'Bay Music School' and conducted the group 'Bay Ladies Choir', twice winner of local festivals. She won the festival in Paignton (UK) as a singer, in the Soprano category.
She performed in recitals in France, England and Brazil, was a singer and teacher at the 'Salvalírico' festival in Salvador in 2012.
In 2013, he participated as a soloist at the Opera de Manaus in the first performance of Berio's Sinfonia with national artists.
In 2014, she published her first book of poetry: 'Amar … Simplesmente … Vida' and released her first music CD as a singer-songwriter: 'Mosaicos' on November 5, 2015.
In 2015, he received the first prize at the II Festival of Brazilian Popular Music in Mogi das Cruzes with the song “O Canto do Uirapuru” with Bruno Conde, performed by Kleber Serrado.
Also in 2015, she received the Carlos Gomes Medal of Cultural Merit for her life dedicated to music and the title of Commander granted by the Brazilian federal government.
In 2016, he became a voting member of the Latin Grammy Awards.
In 2017, she graduated in Audio Production MA (Master of Arts) at the University of Westminster – London.
In 2018, he became the Brazilian representative of RSL – Rock School – London.”
In 2019 she opened her space “Gisele Afeche Culture and Art Space where she teaches French, English, piano and singing in addition to offering various workshops.
In 2021 he became a member of the Brazilian Academy of Music.
In 2022, her interview podcast, Gisele Afeche Convida, was broadcast on the Official Gisele Afeche Channel on YouTube.
In 2023, he completes 40 years dedicated to music.
