Gladys Marie Lamy
Gladys Marie Lamy (born June 18, 1935) is an English conveyancer. She is known as the first female licensed conveyancer in England and also for her contributions to hypnotherapy and counseling.
Early Career
Lamy's career began in the Ministry of Defense, after which she worked in the office of Lord George Brown, a former Labor First Secretary of State. She later joined the legal and parliamentary department of the London County Council (LCC), which eventually became the Greater London Council (GLC).
In 1969, Lamy became an assistant member of the Institute of Legal Executives and subsequently passed the institute's conveyancing examination to become a conveyancer. Lamy worked in property law following the introduction of the Administration of Justice Act – 1985 Part II.
In 1987, Lamy opened her own office, Lamy & Co. Licensed Conveyancers, located in the London Borough of Lambeth.[1]
Personal Life
She was married to Yves-Aurele Lamy, a civil servant in 1950s, he passed away in 2009.[2]
