Glasp Inc is a startup based in San Francisco, founded in 2021 by Kazuki Nakayashiki and Kei Watanabe.
In August 2021, Glasp received investments in the pre-seed round.
In March 2022, the company announced that it reached 100,000 highlights.[1]
In December 2022, the company announced that it reached 1,000,000 highlights.[2]
In December 2022, YouTube Summary with ChatGPT was released.
In April 2023, Glasp received investments in the pre-seed round.
In July 2023, an official iOS beta app was released.[3]
Features[edit]
Glasp does not require specialized training to use. It offers AI capabilities and a web highlighter, with Glasp AI functionality, users can highlight web content(web articles, PDFs, and YouTube), summarize web content(web articles and YouTube), leave notes, and organize web articles.
Glasp integrates with SaaS tool including Readwise.
Web highlight[edit]
The core feature of Glasp is highlighting web content including web articles, PDFs, and YouTube videos. Users can mark up sentences with browser extension. After highlighting web content, it's saved and showed on the My Highlights page on Glasp. Anyone can view users' highlights without creating an account.
YouTube Summary[edit]
One of Glasp's most notable features is its YouTube Summary powered by ChatGPT. Glasp fetches YouTube's transcripts and puts them into ChatGPT. With that, users can get a summary of YouTube videos. Whereas it's an effective way to see the content, users are necessary to understand its quality.
