Work on Poker and Gaming Industry in India
Jay Sayta is considered an expert on the Indian gambling industry, and he has done extensive work on gaming laws.[2][3][4]
In his interview with Money Control, a financial portal, Jay commented on Shashi Tharoor's (Member of the Indian parliament) introduction of a private member's Bill to regulate sports betting and penalize match-fixing, "The bill if passed will ensure that competitive sports become cleaner and less prone to rigging or fixing...Regulation of online sports betting will benefit technology companies that are trying to innovate in this space, (and) it will benefit consumers by ensuring that they get a cleaner product and also benefit the government by enabling it to earn huge tax revenue."[5]
GLaws first reported in the year 2016 about the Nagaland governor P.B. Acharya giving his assent to a bill that aimed to regulate and legitimise online games of skill. Jay Sayta pointed out that as states can only make laws for themselves, the nation-wide nature of this was questionable.[3]
