Gleeds is a UK based, global multi-disciplinary consultancy, operating primarily in the built environment. They offer services including business investment advice, commercial and contract management, programme & project management, property & asset management.[1][2]
Gleeds is a registered Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors member.[3]
History
Gleeds was founded in 1885 by architect Richard Gleed and was one of the first independent practices specialising in quantity surveying services and have now been trading for almost 140 years. Richard Gleed opened his first Gleeds physical practice in London in partnership with Arthur Belcher followed by his two sons Percival Gleed and Herbert Alexander Gleed.[4]
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Gleeds had an active role in advising how the Building Cost Information Service, an indices on elemental costs for construction services in the U.K. (originally owned by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) should set out and display their cost information.[5] They proposed to change the format of the Standard Form of Cost Analysis by introducing "functional elements" and therefore had an active impact in how construction cost data is recorded and visualised.[6]
Gleeds launched its operations in Canada in 2017 focusing on energy, infrastructure, commercial and industrial sectors.[7]
As of 2023, Gleeds are targeting to expand into the United States market.[8]
