Glenda is the mascot of the distributed operating system Plan 9 from Bell Labs. It was drawn by Renée French and three versions of it are available. One has a white background, another has a black background and one portrays the mascot with an astronaut helmet on its head. These designs are under the Lucent Public License, which is an open-source license.[1]
As Plan 9 is named after the Ed Wood film Plan 9 from Outer Space, Glenda is presumably named after Wood's film Glen or Glenda.
