Marjorie Glenice Halliday (2 March 1926 – 19 April 2020) was an English mezzo soprano, opera singer. Halliday trained at the Royal College of Music for four years before joining the Sadlers Wells Opera in 1950, from which she was promoted to junior principal. She then sang various Mezzo roles at theatres around the UK and Ireland with the Carl Rosa Company. Halliday also did a great deal of broadcasting on BBC Television, BBC Radio Three, BBC Home Service and BBC Light,[1] participating in production's such as Emily Butter,[2] Riders to the sea,[3] Rigetto[4] and Brian Easdale's Seelkie[5] before moving to Aachen, Germany where she continued her successful career singing in Samson, Cavalleria Rusticana and Elekra until her last her last performance in 1987.
