Launched in 2009, Copenhagen Fashion Summit is a business event on sustainability in fashion. Convening fashion industry decision makers, the event facilitates discussions on the environmental, social and ethical issues facing the fashion industry and planet.

Copenhagen Fashion Summit is an annual two-day event that takes place in May at the Copenhagen Concert Hall, under the patronage of HRH The Crown Princess of Denmark. 2019 marks the event’s 10th anniversary.[5]

In addition to facilitating discussions and speeches from industry leaders, the Summit also presents the Innovation Forum – a sustainable solutions platform designed to help small and large fashion business accelerate or embark on their sustainability journey by showcasing exhibitors with sustainable tools. Innovation Forum covers the entire supply chain – from new fabrics to green packaging solutions. The Innovation Forum also includes a Design Studio which displays a curation of solutions tailored to the needs of creative directors and designers.[6]

Content[edit]

The CEO Agenda[edit]

The CEO Agenda was first published in 2018 and is an annual publication that provides fashion CEOs and industry stakeholders with an outline of recommended priorities to make their businesses sustainable.[7] The Agenda details topics that should be top of mind for any CEO in fashion right now, outlining the core priorities for immediate implementation and the transformational priorities to secure fundamental change.[8] The CEO Agenda has become a reference for implementing sustainability measures, guiding corporate strategies, policymaking and investments.[9]

The Pulse of the Fashion Industry Report[edit]

The annual Pulse of the Fashion Industry report is co-authored together with the Boston Consulting Group. First published in 2017, it assesses the industry’s environmental and social performance and provides guidance on how brands can improve.[10]

2020 Circular Fashion System Commitment[edit]

The 2020 Circular Fashion System Commitment was launched during the Copenhagen Fashion Summit in 2017[11] and calls on the fashion industry to take action on circularity in order to accelerate the industry’s transition to a circular fashion system.[12] By June 2018, the 2020 Circular Fashion System Commitment (2020 Commitment) had been signed by 94 companies, representing 12.5% of the global fashion market.[13]
