Global Independent Film Awards is a film festival and film awards competition dedicated to recognising filmmakers and actors for high quality work. Some of the films selected at the Global Independent Film Awards have later gone on to win many prestigious film awards including the Academy Awards and the Golden Rooster Awards .

Dam 999, an official selection and winner at the Global Independent Film Awards, was selected for Golden Rooster Awards 2012 and nominated for Best Picture and selected for Best Original score for the 84th Academy Awards.[2][3]
