Globalance is a Swiss private bank and B Corporation that offers wealth management services to private clients, foundations, and family offices.[1]

History[edit]

Together with three other founding partners, Reto Ringger founded Globalance in 2011 to offer sustainable investment products to private clients, foundations, and family offices.[2][1]

In 2013, Globalance launched the Globalance Footprint.[3] The goal of the footprint is to show the investor, which impact its portfolio has on the economy, society, and the environment.[4]

In 2015, the bank has been honoured as a "Global Growth Company" by the World Economic Forum for its innovation in the field of sustainable finance.[5]

In 2019, the bank was the overall winner in the "Bilanz Private Banking Rating".[6]

Overview[edit]

Currently, Globalance operates in Switzerland from its headquarter in Zurich. In 2015, the bank expanded into Germany by establishing a subsidiary in Munich, in a cooperation with the German private bank Donner & Reuschel.[7]

The bank operates with twenty staff and outsources operations such as IT and compliance.[8]

Globalance World[edit]

Globalance World is a tool that uses raw data from third party data providers such as MSCI, and calculates various proprietary metrics, such as the Globalance Footprint and the megatrend exposure.[9]

The site provides transparency about the climate path of a given company, bond or portfolio. In comparison to most competitors however, it does not only include scope 1 and 2 emissions, but also scope 3 emissions of a security.[9] It tells investors in a visual way, whether their portfolio aligns with the Paris Agreement’s two-degree Celsius target.[3]

Business model[edit]

Globalance solely offers wealth management services and does not engage in loan, mortgage, or trading businesses.[10]

The bank uses a combination of sustainable investment strategies, such as industry exclusion, ESG integration, thematic and impact investing to construct its portfolios. It also promotes active asset ownership on behalf of its clients, by exercising its voting rights in and engaging with investee companies.[2]

The bank charges a fixed price for its mandates and does not accept kickbacks from third parties.[8] The bank claims its portfolio is compatible with the 2-degree climate target.[8]
