Glory games
The Glory Games is a series of sporting events held throughout the year, uniting church-sponsored teams in sports like volleyball and flag football. Founded in 2008, the events are committed to sharing the gospel and providing an avenue for Christian evangelism, fellowship, and discipleship through the means of playing organized sports. Each sporting event typically spans two days, beginning with a worship night on Friday, followed by a full day of tournament play on Saturday. A distinctive feature of the Glory Games is the requirement that all participating teams attend the worship service, reflecting the event’s emphasis on church unity and Christ-centered community.
The Glory Games originated from two separate events. The inaugural flag football tournament, initially called the Rice Bowl, was held in Keller, Texas, in Jan. 2008 and renamed the Turkey Bowl in Nov. 2008. The first volleyball tournament, TOKA, took place in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 2012. In 2015, the leadership of both tournaments united under a shared vision to form the Glory Games. The events have grown, with mini-tournaments in the Dallas-Fort Worth area leading up to the main annual tournament.
Each event is organized by a volunteer leadership team made up of active/former athletes, ministry leaders, and pastors. While most teams are local to Texas, the event regularly attracts participants from other states, including Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Georgia, and Colorado.
The largest Glory Games event to date was held in 2025, featuring 24 participating teams.
