Gnostic Movement
The Gnostic movement comprises the smallest branch of the Independent Sacramental Movement (ISM), with individuals and communities that practice various interpretations of Gnostic Christianity. In many cases, Gnostic clergy possess lines of apostolic succession and choose Gnostic expressions of Christianity as an alternative way to live and express their faith. They are described by some as "the fringe of a fringe movement."
Largely due to its "working clergy" and the lack of resources of its communities, Gnostic communities are often very small and are constantly in flux. Most Gnostic clergy are quite independent from one another and from other members of the Independent Sacramental Movement, often finding more fellowship and kinship in Druidry, Wicca, and fraternal orders (e.g., Masonic lodges).
The Gnostic movement of the ISM is comprised of:
- Gnostic Clergy
- Gnostic Communities
- Other Gnostic Ministries
- Gnostic Jurisdictions
- Gnostic Religious Communities
- Gnostic Seminaries & Formation Programs
