Godless Throne is an American extreme metal band from Las Vegas, Nevada. Their style of music encapsulates a broad spectrum of heavy sub-genres such as deathcore, black metal, symphonic metal and death metal. Their sound is most akin to black metal, however they have set themselves apart from pure black metal by utilizing symphonic elements and breakdowns throughout their music. Their lyrical themes are heavily influenced by poetry, religion, and history.

Formation and EP release[edit]
Godless Throne was founded in 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada by Jay Godless and Spunindarkness Tom. Prior to Godless Throne, guitarist Tom formed a death metal band called Spun in Darkness in 2005 [1]. Their musical style was categorized as a raw, old school death metal sound [2] [3] . The two met in 2006 after Jay responded to an audition ad for Spun in Darkness. Nothing came of it, however, Jay and Tom remained friends through the years. Though after a long stretch in the Las Vegas metal scene, the group disbanded in 2016 [4], subsequently, Jay and Tom formed what is now Godless Throne [5]. During the band's inception their original name was Throne of Darkness, however, after further consideration, they transitioned their name into Godless Throne. In 2017 Godless Throne released an EP [6] called Son of Perdition. The name referenced to a religious term, which is defined as a demoniacal title [7] where those who will receive no glory in the afterlife [8]. The EP is a concept album based on the evil acts of Nero, who was a powerful emperor in ancient Rome. The band's influences include Dimmu Borgir, Thy Art Is Murder, Abigail Williams, Cradle of Filth, Behemoth, Carnifex, Dark Funeral, Winds of Plague, Emmure, Rose Funeral, The Browning and Fleshgod Apocalypse.
