Early Life & Education[edit]
Adjei was born to Mr. Prince Adjetey Sowah and Mrs. Eva Joyce Sowah at Nsawam in the Eastern Region of Ghana. In 1983, she began her secondary school education at the Nungua Secondary School in Accra, where she pursued her Ordinary Level Certificate (O’Level).
In 1988, she took her A-Level and general certificate of examination (GCE) the Labone Secondary School.
After passing her A’ level, she enrolled into the University of Cape Coast in the Central Region where she earned a Diploma in education and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Secretaryship.
in 2003, she received her a Master’s Degree in Communications Management from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow in the United Kingdom on a Chevening Scholarship from the British Council.
She also holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree, which she acquired from GIMPA Law School as well as a Professional Law Certificate from the Ghana School of Law.[1]
Career[edit]
Between April to August of 1997, Adjei worked as a Secretary to the Canadian High Commission development section in Accra. Under the Head of Development Assistance Programme, she provided both administrative and secretarial support.[1]
Adjei joined the National Communications Authority on August 1, 1998. She has been involved in a number of projects and has also taken up various leadership roles and positions within the Authority. She is currently the longest serving female staff of the National Communications Authority.[1] Adjei started as a private secretary to the first Acting Director General of the Authority.
In 2002, Adjei was made in charge of Regulations and Licensing. With her new role, she was given the responsibility of drafting Authorisation letters to Licensed or Authorised Operators. She was also responsible for sending renewal notices to Licensed Operators as well as reviewing documents of Licensed Operators and Service Providers to find out if they were fulfiling their financial and regulatory obligations.
In 2005, Adjei was assigned the role of conducting research into various topics pertaining to telecommunications, interconnection, licensing procedures, tariff regulations and reviewing licence and authorisation conditions in order to ensure Operators or Service Providers comply with standards.
In 2007, Adjei was made Chief Manager in charge of International Relations. She managed the Deputy Director’s Secretariat and supervised work flow. A responsibility that came with her new role.
