Golmaal Govindam is a 1992 Indian Telugu-language comedy film produced by A. V. Subba Rao under the Prasad Art Productions banner[2] and directed by Tatineni Rama Rao.[3] It stars Rajendra Prasad and Anusha in the lead roles, with music composed by Chakravarthy.[4] The film was recorded as a flop at the box office.[5] The film is a remake of the Kannada movie Gauri Ganesha (1990), which was based on the comedy novel Wedding Bells by Malladi Venkata Krishna Murthy.
Plot
Golmaal Govindam (Rajendra Prasad) is a petty trickster who cheats and lies to make a living. One day, he turns himself into a hospital to get free boarding and lodging, but comes across a recent patient named Kumari (Sri Bhanu) who has died of heart failure. He decides to take her belongings and make some money off them, but instead finds her diary. He realizes that Kumari has encountered three men who had a significant influence in her life. The first man was her former boss, Manmadha Rao (Giri Babu), who had proposed indecently to sleep with her. The second man, Raja Shekar (Dileep), wanted her to pretend that they were married to fool his parents in return for money for her heart treatment. The last man, Sudhakar (Sudhakar), is a friend of Raja Shekar and thought that he had slept with Kumari in a drunken state. The truth is that none of the men had any physical contact with her. Govindam devises a plan to extract money from these men and their families. He writes letters to them stating that Kumari has given birth to their son and named him Gopal. All three come to meet Govindam on the same day, so he brings a child named Ganapathi (Master Anand) from an orphanage and introduces him as Gopal to Manmadha Rao and Sudhakar. But he introduces the child as Rajshekhar to Rajshekhar's parents.
All three men, Rajshekhar's father, Manmadha Rao, and Sudhakar coincidentally stay at the same restaurant and happen to meet each other accidentally. Later, they realize that Govindam has been playing a trick on them and decide to get him arrested. But Govindam argues that it is they who have made mistakes and supports himself by saying that he cleverly made cash out of their mistakes. In the end, all three men leave. Govindam adopts the child from the orphanage and lives happily thereafter.
