Good Things Are Happening Fest is a rock music festival held annually in the historic Scranton Iron Furnaces in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
The festival has featured a variety of rock sub-genres, including alternative rock, blues rock, doom metal, heavy metal, indie, punk, and pop-punk. [1]
The next festival is scheduled on September 12, 2026.[1] The festival's 2026 artist lineup is Pool Kids, Have Mercy, James Barrett, The Sw!ms, The Virgos, Wild Red, Latewaves, Purple Lung, Rachel Ana Dobken, Connor Bracken & The Mother Leeds Band, and Look Back Luna. [2]
History
The festival was founded by James Barrett.[1] In 2022, Barrett posted about the idea of a festival on Facebook, saying "It'd be cool to start a music festival."[3] It was first held three months later on August 6, 2022.[4] The name "Good Things Are Happening" comes from a local news segment.[3]
It was held again at the Scranton Iron Furnaces in August 2023.[5] The festival made a profit for the first time in 2024.[6]
It included about 40 vendors for art, clothing, coffee, food and beer in 2025.[6] Acts in 2025 included The Menzingers, James Barrett, Rosary Guild, Sarah Gross & The Killjoys, Pretty Rude, Bobby Mahoney, Alma Mater, Hit Like A Girl, South Side Five, and Sweetnest.[6][7]
