From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

This is an article about a boxing family. For the movie director, see Nicholaus Goossen

Goossen is an American family that is involved in professional boxing, mainly as a promoter (Goossen-Tutor).

Goossen-Tutor[edit]

Dan Goossen, who has nine siblings, discovered and managed the career of bouncer-turned-actor Mr. T in the late 1970s.[citation needed]

In the early 1980s, as the promoter of the family, he started a company named Ten Goose Boxing (named after the ten siblings) handling but not always promoting Michael Nunn, Terry Norris and the Ruelas brothers, Gabriel and Rafael.[citation needed]

In the summer of 1996 he joined forces with Matt Tinley to form the America Presents with the financial backing of cable-magnate Bill Daniels promoting David Tua, middleweight champion Bernard Hopkins, super welterweight(junior middleweight) and sole US-American 1996 Olympic Gold medallist David Reid and Mike Tyson.[citation needed]

In March 2002 he founded Goossen-Tutor which is now one of the most powerful promotional companies, based in Sherman Oaks, California, a partnership with construction magnate Ronald Tutor, president and CEO of Tutor-Saliba Corp.[citation needed] They have #2 pound for pound Andre Ward under contract as well as they also have Chris Arreola, James Toney and Tony Thompson are other known fighters.[citation needed]

Dan is the only major promoter who testified at the Boxing Reform Senate Hearings sponsored by Senator John McCain and is an inductee in the Californian World Boxing Hall of Fame. He has four sons. The eldest, Craig, works alongside him at Goossen Tutor.[citation needed]

Joe Goossen (coach)[edit]

Joe Goossen works as a coach, sometimes but not always for Goossen Tutor fighters, i.e. the late Diego Corrales who was promoted by Gary Shaw. Notable fighters he has trained are Michael Nunn, Joel Casamayor, and Shane Mosley.[1]
