Gopal Jha (born January 4, 1969) is an Indian politician who is a former candidate from Burari Bidhansabha (Delhi Assembly Constituency). He is a graduate in commerce from Lalit Narayan Janta College Jhanjharpur, Madhubani, Bihar. After graduating, he went on to get his master's degree in commerce from CM College Darbhanga. Gopal Jha started his political career in 1994 as a social worker and worked for the welfare of migrants. His prime concern was to fight the injustice which they had to endure in Delhi, India.

In December, 1994 Jha was elected in Samta Party, Delhi as State Youth President.

In 1995, Jha founded an NGO, Prantiya Prawasi Evam Dalit Vikas Manch that was working for migrant dalits in Delhi. His NGO is working at pan India level in same domain since 2011. The key issues addressed are Health, Respect, Education, Employment, Security and Residential rights.

In 1996, Jha was elected as a Pradesh Adhyaksh for Rashtriya Janta Party, Delhi. Further, in 1999, he was elected as Delhi Pradesh Chief Secretary General in Lok Jan Shakti Party. His political journey kickstarted when he took up the role of Delhi Pradesh Adhyaksh in Shakti Dal led by Smt Maneka Gandhi. He continued to work in the party from 2001 to 2004. Furthermore, he joined BJP with Ms Gandhi. From 2005 to 2011, he served as an Adhyaksh in Jhopdi Delhi Pradesh BJP. In 2012, he took up the role of Adhyaksh for Bhartiya Janta Majdur Mahasangh. His breakthrough happened in 2015 when he fought the Vidhan Sabha election under the banner of BJP from Burari Vidhansabha and secured second position in the constituency. He ranked ninth among all the candidates who fought the election on BJP's ticket.

Early Life and Education[edit]

Gopal Jha was born in a middle-class family in Deoghar District in the Santhal Parganas division of the state of Jharkhand, India on January 4, 1969. He has two siblings Mr. Prabhakar Jha and Mr. Kumar Rahul. His father Late Mr Chandra Nath Jha, a farmer, and mother Sundira Jha, a homemaker, supported his dreams of pursuing philanthropy and human rights for underprivileged sections of the society. Gopal Jha graduated in commerce from Lalit Narayan Janta College Jhanjharpur, Madhubani, Bihar. He also holds a master's degree in commerce from CM College Darbhanga, Bihar.

Philanthropy and Achievements[edit]

Between 2005to 2011, Jha arranged to provide permanent places to approx. 1 Lakh people staying in jhuggis in different zones of Delhi – Bawana Punarwas, Madanpur Khadar, and Bhalaswa Dairy. The rest of the slums were protected from being destroyed so that they can get the houses at the same place. Amid his rising political career, he was actively supported by 1 million people against police harassment.

Jha also helped more than 1 lakh Rehadi trackers, three wheelers and retailers in becoming self-employed. The children of lakhs of poor people who live in slums or unauthorized colonies who were deprived of education 43were enrolled in government schools. Also, he launched a campaign in support of people from other states who were discriminated using caste or state-related words in Delhi.

In 2012, he took up the role of Adhyaksh for Bhartiya Janta Majdur Mahasangh. His breakthrough happened in 2015 when he fought the Vidhan Sabha election under the banner of BJP from Burari Vidhansabha and secured second position in the constituency. He ranked ninth among all the candidates who fought the election on BJP's ticket.

Having an agrarian background in family has impelled Gopal to fight for educational and health rights of underprivileged people. Jha particularly campaigns to provide proprietary rights to rehabilitation colonies so that all of them can get necessary civil facilities, like loans and government schemes. He has also been raising voice on important issues like increasing the number of ICUs in all government hospitals in Delhi which is currently 10 percent. Yet another key focus of his is to set up a government hospital in all the poorer areas of Delhi. He has been working to increase the number of government secondary schools in Delhi so that the poor students of Delhi can get the quality education.
