The Gourmet Burger Company (GBC) is a hamburger franchise located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The company was established in 2008 and now has five locations within the Greater Toronto Area. The company currently offers a wide selection of gourmet burgers, milkshakes, soft drinks, fries, onion rings and salads. The company states that "Each GBC burger is made from Canadian farm-raised beef that's been aged a for a minimum of 30 days. (They) prepare all (their) own sauces and use the freshest local ingredients."[1]

Reception[edit]

In December 2012 Toronto.com awarded the gourmet burger co winner of the battle of best burgers. In 2009, Toronto's Now Magazine rated GBC's Australian-style burger as the best burger for under $10 in Toronto.[2] The following year,Now Magazine rated GBC the 9th best burger in the city.[3][4] Eye Weekly gave the restaurant 3 out of 5 stars.[5]

Business practices[edit]

GBC claims on their menu that they use 100% biodegradable packaging.[5] And while part of the company's marketing strategy is to highlight an eco-friendly, local food mandate,[1]
