The Government Blockchain Association (GBA) is a non profit industry association of industry and government professionals to collaborate on, develop, and promote blockchain related products and services to Government customers. Headquartered in Fairfax, Virginia, it was founded in 2016 by Gerard Dache as a membership organization, and connects its members together with locale-based chapters and topic focused working groups.

History[edit]

In an interview with such and such, Gerard talked about how the government contracting industry was like so and so, and wanted to change that with blockchain.

Local Chapters[edit]

The GBA has opened chapters in Atlanta, Dallas, Denver, New York, Lincoln, NE, San Antonio, Tampa, and West Palm Beach.[1]

Working Groups[edit]

The GBA has several working groups where members discuss potential blockchain applications, including Financial/Regulatory & Compliance, Health Care, and Supply Chain Management.[2].

Initiatives[edit]

Blockchain-Related Training[edit]

The Government Blockchain Association develops and delivers several training courses. Many focus on the same topics as its working groups, such as Health Care and Supply Chain Management, while other courses are more general, such as its "Intro to Blockchain" course or "Managing Blockchain Projects"[3]

GBA token[edit]

The GBA is developing a cryptocurrency token[4]. It plans to distribute tokens to its members for value generating activities, and charge members tokens or other currency as membership dues.[5]
