Government Laboratory (Chinese: 政府化驗所) is a government department under the Food and Health Bureau of the Government of Hong Kong. It is responsible for performing analytical, investigatory and advisory services for other government bureaux and departments in aspects of law and order, public health and safety, environmental protection, government revenue, consumers' interests and implementation of government policies. The head of the department is the Government Chemist, leading around 509 staff, of whom around one third are professional experts in various scientific disciplines.[1]
