Govind Dholakia[4] (born 7 November 1947) is an Indian businessman and philanthropist from Surat, Gujarat. He is the founder and chairman of Shree Ramkrishna Exports Pvt. Ltd. [5], a diamond crafting and exports company. Informally, he is also known as Govindkaka.
Biography
Govind Dholakia was born in a farmer family in Dudhala[6], Amreli district, Gujarat. He studied until Grade 7 in his native place. In 1964, Govind Dholakia along with his elder brother came to Surat to work in the diamond industry.
In 1977, he and his business partners started their import-export operations as a partnership firm named Shree Ramkrishna Exports Pvt. Ltd. (SRK)[7]. The company grew and became a diamond exporter with 5000+ employees by 2014.[8][9]
He was awarded the Leadership Award by the U.S. Green Building Council in 2017 for being an outstanding individual for working towards the Green Building movement.[10]
In 2022, Penguin Books published a biography of Dholakia Diamonds are Forever so are Morals written by Arun Tiwari.[11][12]
