Gowrishankar SRG is an Indian actor, producer and writer who works in the Kannada film industry.[1] He is known for his performances in Jokaali (2010), Rajahamsa (2017) and Kerebete (2024).[2]
Career
Gowrishankar began his career in cinema as an assistant director before transitioning into acting.[3] He made his acting debut with the Kannada film Jokaali (2010) portraying the character Vedha.[4] In 2017 he appeared in the lead role of Raj in Rajahamsa.[5] The film was described as a family entertainer combining romance, action, comedy and drama.[6] In 2024 Gowrishankar returned as a lead actor in Kerebete.[7][8]
Directed by Rajguru B the film is based on the traditional Malnad folk sport known as Kerebete an annual fishing festival practised in parts of Karnataka.[9] The teaser of the film was launched by actor Dhananjaya who praised the increasing representation of indigenous stories in Kannada cinema.[10] In 2026 Gowrishankar was cast in Common Man directed by veteran Kannada filmmaker Om Sai Prakash.[11]
